Thanks for stopping by and welcome to JettyBlue Photography.
I have been a professional photographer for over 15 years and my only regret is that it hasn't been longer (I'm not that old, really). My profession as a photographer did not start out as a hobby "and kinda grew from there". I chose photography as a profession from a very young age when my Dad shared his passion for it with me. Originally learning the trade of a wedding photographer way back in the dark ages of film, I am degree qualified with a Diploma of Fine Arts (Photography) from the National Art School and a Degree in Visual Communications (Photography & Digital Imaging) from UWS.
I shot my first wedding way back in 1997 while studying Photography at uni (much to my uni lecturers disgust! "REAL photographers don't shoot weddings Samantha"). For the next ten or so years, I shot weddings for some of the top wedding and portrait studios in Sydney, all the while forging a career as a professional commercial photographer. Working on huge projects such as Bazmark (Moulin Rouge) and Lucasfilm (Star Wars Ep 2 & 3) was truly epic, but my heart only sang when capturing those life-defining moments that are unique to us all.
To shoot your wedding is truly a privilege, as is the opportunity to capture other magical life moments of engagements, birthdays, pregnancy and newborns as well as fun family stories. These are the fleeting moments that I live for. Above all, I relish in the connection between people. Mothers & daughters, fathers & sons, brides & grooms. To capture that feeling through my lens, transpose it onto paper, then watch that emotion re-ignited as I present it to my client, is nothing short of magical.
So what's the rest of the story???
I LIVE to photograph. It is how I feed my two human children and my dog, who will greet you with much vigour when you visit the studio in the glorious Sutherland Shire of Sydney (the human children don't bark, but they will insist on meeting you nonetheless).
I am married to a Wayne (anyone else married to a Wayne will know exactly what I mean), I love the Foo Fighters, I love the way the light turns my daughter's hair golden, you won't see me for dust during the ski season and I LOOOOVE dogs! One of the most cherished residents in my life is my American Akita. When you visit, he will greet you with much barking, but don't worry, he's just a big teddy bear
I am very lucky that I have been around long enough that my business is 99% word of mouth and my customers seek me out because they love my work and they love to have fun. So if you treasure life's moments and wish to hold them close to share with future generations, then email me to find out how your precious moments can live forever. I'd love to be a part of your journey.
Looking forward to meeting you!
